Future power supply

The City of Marshall operates as a municipal power supply for its residents as a member of the Michigan South Central Power Agency. Council members will be exploring along with the MSCPA whether to sign a lengthy supplemental power contract with AMP Ohio which is building a new, coal fired power plant on the Ohio River. Council members have requested a workshop on this issue, on the issue of the Marshall House Apartments water infiltration problem and on the city employee retirement benefits actuarial report. We will be watching the developments as discussions continue on these and other issues.

The city employees do NOT deserve a retirement. Most do NOT live in the city, and most do NOT help the citizens that PAY for their wages and retirement. The very same RUDE people that WORK for the city TAXPAYERS that will not return phone calls nor provide the BASIC services for the people that are PAYING their wages. Expect for the police, the rest of the city workers deserve what they have given the taxpayers, NOTHING...

The first comment makes no sense to this 30 year resident. City employees have earned retirement benefits and many work hard at their jobs. To claim they are all rude or that they neglect their jobs is silly.

There may be a bad apple or two on the city staff (hard to avoid in any work setting) but in my experiece, Marshall is blessed with hard working, sincere employees who deserve every bit of what they have earned.
